Islamabad to Skardu is about 650 km and 14–16 hours of driving via KKH + Skardu Road. Mountain roads need an experienced driver and the right vehicle, so we send drivers who know the northern routes and recommend an SUV, a 4×4 or a Hiace for groups.

Best time to visit
Skardu is best from May to October. Deosai is usually accessible from late June to September. The road along the Indus can be affected by landslides after heavy rain, so we keep flexible days in the plan.

- Warm jackets even in summer – nights in the mountains are cold
- CNIC or passport for checkposts
- Cash, as ATMs and card machines are limited in remote valleys
- Basic medicines, sunscreen and sunglasses
- A power bank – electricity can be patchy in hotels

Tours are charged per day: the vehicle's daily rate with driver, plus fuel, tolls and the driver's night allowance. Local jeeps for places like Lake Saif-ul-Malook or Mahodand are paid separately. Mountain roads can close because of snow or landslides, so we check conditions with the driver before departure and keep you updated on the way.
